A CONTEST!!! A CONTEST!!!

In honor of National Dystonia Awareness Week, I'd like to have a little contest here on my blog! Okay, so the prize isn't such a big deal... $20 Starbucks card (for you international people, if you don't have a Starbucks we can figure something else out).

All you need to do is leave me a comment! However, if you link back to me on your blog and let me know, you will be entered in the drawing twice. AND if someone comes from your blog to my blog to enter and says that they were directed to my blog through your blog... you will be entered a third time! So, make sure that if you link from your blog that they know to mention your blog when they enter!

Let's see how far we can spread the word!

If you'd like to learn more about Dystonia or Spasmodic Dysphonia... just click on those words! There is a very short clip of me speaking in the post below this one... and links to other SD'ers in the post below that one.

Dystonia Awareness week runs from June 1 through June 7. I will close the contest at 6 pm on Saturday, June 7th.

THANKS!!!

Yeah a contest! Yahoo! Latte, latte. latte!

Cool, I will be in for that! We have Starbucks here, but don't know if your card would work here... who knows... I probably won't win, I never win anything!

How 'bout if I leave a comment AND link the contest from my blog??

Trisha said...

I LOVE contests! I don't drink coffee but . . . I love to enter! I have you linked at my blog (okay - I lied. I haven't done it while I am writing but will when I am done here!).

My parents are visiting me this week and my mom was sitting here watching your video. So was my dad. They thought you sounded good. MUCH better than I did when I first started all this.

Tell Paco the terrorist to hush up! Like that will ever happen!

Do you know how long it's been since I bought an expensive coffee drink? Do YOU?! Three months! THREE MONTHS! And right now I don't have ANY COFFEE IN MY HOUSE BECAUSE I WENT THROUGH ALL MY GROCERY MONEY AND PAYDAY ISN'T UNTIL FRIDAY!!!!! I don't know how I'm getting through the days, seriously every thing is sort of hazy and sad.

Hi Friend,

Thanks for popping over and letting me know about your fun contest! I will try to link over to your site tomorrow. I think that it is important for people to be informed about Dystonia and what you must live with! I completely understand what it is like to live with an illness that people do not really understand. I will definitely take some time to learn more about your illness, KJ.

Hugs and love,
Deb

dlyn said...

I will check out the links CB - this is something I have very little awareness of, so anything I learn will be an asset.

April said...

Oh how totally weird! I paged through the comments and saw my name and thought, I am losing it! I don't even remember commenting already. And then, tee hee, I realized it wasn't me. Ha!! Totally different April, but same super awesome name. So I am entering, but I really think Chris H is going to win because she has a Go-Zillion fans. I had 190 hits in one day after she linked me. You might as well just figure out postage to New Zealand now Honey.

And don't they have Starbucks everywhere? But Chris is right, I tried to use my card in London and they laughed at me. The currency is exchange is too complicated.

Undomestic Diva said...

Just posted about your contest on my blog. Hopefully you should get some traffic from it!

Christy Ann said...

Hi CB! I just swung by after seeing your post at Diet Coke Rocks! Very brave of you to post the video of your speech. Good luck raising awareness...

tj said...

...Oh girl, you so have my support and you can count me in! And throw my name in the hat for the drawing too - mmmm, Starbucks! :o)

...I, like you and Debra W also live with an illness no one understands and I did not know that this even existed until I met you. I listened to your video and my heart goes out to you KJ...

...Thanks for the comment - so sorry I've been busy painting, gardening, spring cleaning and haven't had much time for blogging. You're in my thoughts and prayers...

...Blessings... :o)

thanks for the awareness contest, I'd never heard of dystonia before, starbucks is a great incentive for me to learn more about it. I know how hard it is for persons with a neurological illness. My husband has alot of nerve issues with his back injury It can be very difficult and painful with the uncontrolable spasms and such.

Flea said...

Way cool! My shout out will post in the morning. :)

Karlene said...

You are so brave to have posted your video - we know someone with Dystonia that does the botox - she has been coping for a while now. Best wishes and many prayers to you.

Rick said...

How many words should I put here to insure entry into the contest? There are so many words that I could share. Like... "etymon", or "anemone", or "ineffable", or "phantasmagoric", or "chimerical".

Are there enough words there to put me into some kind of special catergory?

AmusedMomma said...

Did you get my message from last week about me having a little something for you in my wallet?

What fun to think of coffee with you!

Terry said...

Hi Coffee Bean.
I have been meaning to come and say hi again to you anyway because of the nice comment you made at my blog but I have been so busy.
This week was the Pilgrim Pal's blog that I belong to first anniversary.
It took over four hours to make the card that I posted.
I haven't even said hi to Deborah lately and that is the blog where I found you.
I can't remember that you had a picture the other times I visited your blog. It is very nice!!
Well it is almost one a .m. so I will have to say good night and take care and God bless you....love Terry

Terry said...

PS...I don't have to enter a contest to link your name on my blog. I will do so just because eh?!!!

Sara said...

Hey there Coffee Bean! Thanks for visiting my blog. As you can tell I've been out of the blogoshpere for a while so I haven't been reading around much. I loved your clip. I also have ADSD but my spasms are pretty severe, to the point that my words get completely cut off. Before I started botox, I had resorted to whispering since it was the only way I could communicate at all. So far the botox is working well for me and most of the time I sound fairly normal. Most people generally don't realize I have any kind of problem at all. Until the botox starts to wear off....or right after my injection....
Anyway, best of luck with your contest! Seems like fun!

Thank you! You're linked to PB&B and ready to go!

April: I feel your "we're out of coffee" pain. Having no java is as worrisome as having no food.

I don't go for fancy schmancy coffee drinks. I drink my coffee straight up, so cream and sugar and ice are considered coffee pollutants.

I do, however, like Starbucks vanilla chai. That stuff is seriously addictive and horridly fattening.

Thanks to Laura (Peach), I'm here! I am always amazed how many, many things there are which impact speech. We've had a long dance with oral motor apraxia here in our family. These things do give a different meaning to "freedom of speech!"

I'd never heard of SD before. Kudos for posting your voice recording. I didn't think you sounded so bad, but I can only imagine the feelings of frustration you have.

Each of us has our own cross to bear, some are heavier than others, more obvious than others...after 6 years of dealing with an autoimmune disease, I can relate to the feelings of despair and depression and "why can't I just heal and get back to a normal, productive life." I have more understanding and compassion for people dealing with such things than I did before.

I am not a coffee drinker, but my DH loves Starbucks coffees.

Your contest was a great hit and, of course, Starbucks is a great motivator.

I listened to your video in your past post, and I think your voice sounds better than I expected. You are a bit more breathy than I am. My voice is very low and guttural.

I thinks we are both on the same page - seeing Trisha make significant progress tends to give me hope and I am ready to tackle the next step in finding SOME IMPROVEMENT to the SD voice. I found a couple of options in Denver I might try - I'll talk to you about them when I return from MN on Monday.

My thoughts and prayers are with you - keep up the great blogging.

Talk to you soon.
